The switchover is so new the pixels aren't yet dry, but I'll go ahead and point to Scripps' latest newspaper site redesign: CommercialAppeal.com in Memphis.
It's now in Ellington. It also now features our newly developed, Flash/Flex based video player, starting right on the home page with the AppealTV feature. AppealTV has existed for some time, but today's the first day for public showings of the new player.
Poke around, then feel free to post your comments there or here.
Update (7:20 a.m. ET 8/16/07): If you try to look at the site at the moment, you'll get a server error. The error is related to a service outage at Scripps' hosting facility, I'm told, not to the redesign and conversion.

I like the reader/interaction components you built into the home page giving easy access to blogs or most commented on stories. Very smart.

Hi, John! Actually, you'll see that Jobs button on several Scripps sites. As has been publicized, Scripps is a member of the Yahoo/Newspaper Consortium, and has converted its employment vertical sites to partnerships with HotJobs. So the big red button is part of a sustained marketing campaign for that switch.

Jay,
Very nice site. I like the prominence of the video. One question: what was the reasoning behind the altered Jobs button?
The "play button doesn't do
The "play button doesn't do anything until you select a video" bug is already on the list. It should play the first video on the list unless you select something different.

Howard,
Sometimes we programmers get so used to going through the motions to work around bugs, we forget that they're even there. As Jay said it's on the list and should be tackled early tomorrow along with a few other cosmetic things we've noticed, but thanks for the suggestion!
I've got a small writeup over at my blog livinghardknox.com.
Congratulations on getting
Congratulations on getting another site out the door.
As always, overall it looks great. You know, I think there's too much stuff on the home page :)
The video player looks smashing. And I love the placement. As a matter of usability, my first impulse is to click on the player itself. After trying twice, I tried the play button ... then I glanced at the directions and saw something about selecting a story ... don't make me think, man.

Alan,
We've had a sporadic DNS problem that causes what you describe. Please let me know if you continue to see it.
